Oxford High School Lady Yellow Jackets Varsity put up 12 runs in the second on its way to a 16-2 victory over Hale County on Saturday.

The rally was led by singles by Chloe Derrick, Ashlyn Burns, Tia Titi, and Aametria Wilson, doubles by Sarah Howell and Alex Howard, and a home run by Ellie Derrick.

Kannon Slaughter earned the victory in the pitcher’s circle for Oxford High School Lady Yellow Jackets Varsity. She went three innings, allowing two runs on five hits, striking out three and walking zero.

Cohlee Boone threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Boone recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Oxford High School Lady Yellow Jackets Varsity.

Emily Lafoy took the loss for Hale County. She surrendered 12 runs on 12 hits over one and one-third innings, walking one.

Oxford High School Lady Yellow Jackets Varsity smacked three home runs on the day. Riley Rhodes had a dinger in the third inning. Derrick had a homer in the third inning. Derrick went deep in the second inning.

Derrick went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Oxford High School Lady Yellow Jackets Varsity in hits. Oxford High School Lady Yellow Jackets Varsity was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Titi made the most plays with five.

Ryleigh Hallman led Hale County with two hits in three at bats.
