Sarah Howell was bad news for opposing pitchers on Tuesday, driving in four on three hits to lead Oxford Lady Jackets Varsity past Albertville 11-1 on Tuesday. Howell drove in runs on a home run in the third and a double in the fourth.
In the bottom of the second inning, Albertville tied things up at one when Collins doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.
Oxford Lady Jackets Varsity pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Howell hit a solo homer and Riley Rhodes homered on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.
Oxford Lady Jackets Varsity notched three runs in the fifth inning. Oxford Lady Jackets Varsity’s offense in the inning came from a single by Dee Wilson and a home run by TK Garrett.
Emily Thrasher was credited with the victory for Oxford Lady Jackets Varsity. She went six innings, allowing one run on six hits and striking out three.
Dickerson took the loss for Albertville. She surrendered 11 runs on 13 hits over six innings, striking out three.
Oxford Lady Jackets Varsity tallied three home runs on the day. Howell had a solo homerun in the third inning. Rhodes also went deep in the third inning. Garrett put one over the center field fence in the fifth inning.
